Police have identified a suspect in a gruesome case involving the discovery in Montreal of a man’s torso, whose hand and foot were mailed to Ottawa, the Ottawa Citizen reports.
Police say Luka Rocco Magnotta is wanted in connection with the murder, but is not yet in custody.
According to the Citizen, the suspect and victim knew each other, and the incident is not linked to organized crime.
The two limbs, which were mailed separately to Ottawa on Tuesday, were both sent from Montreal and came from the dismembered torso, which was discovered decomposing in the Quebec city on the same day, the Ottawa Citizen reports.
The torso was found in a suitcase in an alley Tuesday morning, shortly before the discovery of a severed foot addressed to the office of the Conservative Party of Canada.
Police have not said where the hand — discovered later Tuesday evening — was intended to be delivered, but confirmed it was not a residential address, the Citizen reports.
According to the Citizen, an autopsy is expected to reveal how the man was killed and whether he was dead before being dismembered, police said.
Earlier Tuesday, police were called after a receptionist opened a blood-soaked box at the headquarters of Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s party. The first officers to arrive saw what appeared to be blood stains on the package and immediately called in a hazardous-materials unit. When the specialists opened the package, police found the severed foot inside.
Police said the package was not addressed to a specific person at the Conservative Party of Canada. Harper’s office is not located at the party headquarters.
A Conservative Parliament member who showed up later at his party’s headquarters was horrified by the discovery.
"It’s just awful," said Brad Trost, who first learned about the incident from TV. He said it was probably someone’s "sick idea."
"I don’t think any of us are thinking this necessarily has anything to do with politics," he said.
Trost showed up for a meeting, but was told by police it was best to leave.

OTTAWA — A man who once dated notorious sex-killer Karla Homolka now stands accused of murder himself after the grisly discovery of a torso in Montreal, whose severed foot and hand were mailed to the Conservative and Liberal party offices in Ottawa.
Montreal police have confirmed that 29-year-old Luka Rocco Magnotta — also known by the aliases Eric Clinton Newman and Vladimir Romanov — had dated Homolka.
An extensive online profile depicts Magnotta as an alleged former stripper and porn star, who gained notoriety for posting videos of killing kittens online. Various glamour shots show a young man with chiselled features and pursed lips.
A video purporting to show Magnotta repeatedly stabbing a man on a bed has been circulating on the Internet for several days. It is unclear whether the video was staged, or if it depicts a real killing. The Montreal Gazette has confirmed that police have obtained a video of the crime, but it is unclear whether it is the online video.
Montreal police focused their attention on a second-floor apartment in the neighbourhood of Snowdon Wednesday, located near the alley where the torso was found decomposing in a suitcase on the curb with a pile of garbage.
Residents of the building said police were searching for a tenant and also showing a picture of a missing Asian man, believed to be the person who was dismembered. Police have not released the identity of the dead man but said he knew his killer.
“The suspect and victim knew each other,” Montreal police Cmdr. Ian Lafreniere told reporters Wednesday. “It isn’t linked to organized crime.”
The apartment smelled terrible and the bed appeared to be stained with blood when a Gazette reporter visited it Wednesday afternoon.
Residents described Magnotta as a very quiet man who kept to himself.
“It’s like you see in the movies. It’s always the good neighbour. It’s the cliché,” said the building’s superintendent.
Some said they saw Magnotta was wearing a bizarre wig in recent days and that they commented on his strange appearance.
Residents also said they believe Magnotta worked in the gay porn industry.
One said the only time Magnotta spoke to him was about five days ago. He asked the man, an actor, how he could get started in “legitimate” movies.
Sites like http://www.Luka-Magnotta.net contain numerous screeds that decry the Internet rumour mill inflicting damage on his reputation.
“Many hoax websites are created using my image and name, posing as me to seem more believable in respect to the type of audience these website have, I feel I don’t need to list them specifically but people need not be told, not to believe what they read and to take it as fact,” he write in one article entitled “Cyber Stalking” beside a photo of him shirtless and reclining.
In an article on another site purporting to be an interview with Magnotta, he complains about “lies” linking him romantically or even married to schoolgirl killer Karla Homolka, who was released from prison in 2005.
The same article describes Magnotta as “a James Dean lover (who) had cosmetic surgery to look like his idol said he had to drastically change his appearance and was nervous to answer his door and phone. He said, “How would you like it if it happened to you?”
An autopsy on the dismembered body is expected to reveal how the man was killed and whether he was dead before his foot and hand were removed, police said.
The autopsy will be performed in the coming days but so far “all indications are that these are from the same body,” a communications agent for Montreal police told The Gazette on Wednesday morning, citing a preliminary report. “We are still waiting for final results.” She spoke on condition her name wouldn’t be published.
Ottawa police are no longer commenting on the case and have turned the investigation over to their counterparts in Montreal, where the torso was discovered on Tuesday shortly before a senior staffer at the Conservative Party of Canada office in Ottawa partially opened a brown-papered package, which was later found to contain a severed left foot.
A 20-year Canada Post employee in the fleet transportation division, which handles only packages, delivered the bloodied foot to the Conservative Party office, said Ian Anderson, head of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers local for Ottawa.
“She just found out about it this morning from management,” Anderson said. “It’s not every day that somebody delivers a body part. She’s back on her route today.”
Anderson said he is concerned about the health effects, both physical and psychological, of all postal workers who handled the package.
The receptionist at the Tory headquarters office thought the package, which was a bit bigger than a shoebox, looked suspicious, said Fred DeLorey, director of political operations.
It was taken to the office of Jenni Byrne, director of the party’s 2011 election campaign, who saw blood inside the box and smelled “a very foul odour,” DeLorey said. Police were called immediately.
DeLorey said the party is assessing how it handles incoming mail in the future.
The first was generically addressed to the office of the Conservative Party of Canada on Albert Street, just blocks from Parliament Hill. There was no note inside the box.
The second package containing the bloody hand was destined for the Liberal Party of Canada office, but was intercepted by police Tuesday night at the Canada Post office on Riverside Drive.
Police knew the second package had been mailed from the same source and tracked it with the help of Canada Post investigators.
Anderson said it’s possible that police used the bar codes on the package sent to the Conservative Party to locate the other package found at the Alta Vista sorting facility.
Canada Post packages are affixed with a machine-readable code used to trace its progress through the mail system. While the code would not given the sender’s address, it could show which postal station it originated with.
A database search on Canada Post’s computers could locate other packages sent from the same station at around the same time, and would provide the package’s proximate location at that moment.
Meanwhile in Montreal, police combed through garbage bags and furniture left on a Snowdon street Tuesday, looking for body parts after a janitor discovered the torso at about 10 a.m.
Mike Nadeau, 49, said he’d noticed a smell coming from the suitcase in the past few days.
“Today I noticed flies and when I looked closer I saw maggots,” Nadeau said. “I got a friend and we got some cutters because there was a little lock on the suitcase. What I saw when we opened it is hard to describe. There was no head and (the torso) was all grey.”
He said he did not believe there were any limbs attached to the torso. Nadeau backed away from suitcase quickly and called police, he said.

A porn actor is wanted in a gruesome case of dismembered body parts that were mailed to different places including the headquarters of the Conservative Party of Canada, police said Wednesday.
Luka Rocco Magnotta, 29, is wanted for homicide, Montreal police said at a news conference.
Montreal Police Cmdr. Ian Lafreniere said Thursday that police believe Magnotta fled to North America based on evidence they found at his apartment, and based on a blog Magnotta once wrote about how to disappear.
Magnotta has been added to Interpol’s wanted person’s list.
Lafreniere says police have been trying to take down an online video that they believe shows Magnotta committing the murder.
Magnotta, believed to originally be from Toronto, was renting an apartment in a working-class Montreal neighborhood. It was behind that building that police found a man’s torso in a suitcase in a heap of garbage Tuesday, police said. That same day, a foot was found in a package mailed to the Conservative party headquarters in Ottawa, and a hand found at postal warehouse in the Canadian capital. The package with the hand was addressed to the Liberal Party of Canada. Early testing shows the three body parts come from the same man, police said.
"Some police officers have never witnessed a crime such as this," Montreal Police Cmdr. Ian Lafreniere said.
Lafreniere said they are investigating the possibility that other body parts might have been mailed. He said the suspect and the victim knew each other. He said it isn’t linked to organized crime.
The packages with the foot and the hand had been mailed to Ottawa from Montreal. It wasn’t clear why.
"As a father, I would have trouble sleeping at night knowing that the suspect was in my neighborhood," Lafreniere said.
Police said Magnotta is also known by the names Eric Clinton Newman and Vladimir Romanov. They described him as white, 5.8 feet (1.78 meters) tall with blue eyes and black hair.
Police discovered the severed foot after Jenni Bryne, a top political adviser to Prime Minister Stephen Harper, opened a bloodstained box at Conservative party headquarters Tuesday.
When Bryne opened the box, a foul odor overcame the office.
"It was such a horrible odor. I’m sure many of us will not forget it," Conservative Party spokesman Fred DeLorey said.
Police said the package was addressed to the Conservative Party of Canada and not to a specific person.
Canada Post wouldn’t comment on the discoveries.
Eric Schorer, the manager of the building where the suspect lived, said Magnotta had been living there for about four months but hadn’t been seen around in a while. He said there were never any complaints about noise in the unit, and that Magnotta passed a credit test to rent there.
"He seemed like a nice guy," Schorer said.
Richard Payette, who lived across the hall from Magnotta, said the door of Apartment 208 was left open for part of the day on Wednesday. Payette said there was an overwhelming smell drifting out into the hallway, like bad meat.
An online video purportedly showing what looks to be Magnotta shows him committing violent acts against kittens. The video contained at least one photo of him made available by Montreal police Wednesday. For nearly two years, the name has been notorious among animal-rights activists looking for a man who tortured and killed cats and posted videos of it online.
In Ottawa, political staffers were keeping a nervous eye on the mail.
"It’s very upsetting," Opposition New Democrat member Yvon Godin said. "It could be just one crazy person that did it, but at the same time we have lots of people unhappy in our country, the way the country is going."
Opposition Liberal member Justin Trudeau called the packages horrific.

Luka Rocco Magnotta, born as Eric Clinton Newman but also known as Vladimir Romanov or Mattia Del Santo, (born 24 July 1982 in Scarborough, Ontario)[1] is a Canadian male model and pornographic actor. On 30 May 2012, Montreal police issued a Canada-wide warrant, later upgraded to an international warrant, for Magnotta’s arrest, identifying him as a suspect in the murder of an unidentified man whose dismembered body was found at three locations in Montreal and Ottawa.[2] According to the National Post, Magnotta’s identity was discovered by members of theBestGore.com website after a video of the murder was posted to that website.[3]

Magnotta, who has an extensive online trail, gained notoriety for killing kittens and posting the videos online,[4] with some animal rights activists offering a reward for "bringing him to justice".[5]Rumours emerged in 2007 that he was in a relationship with Karla Homolka, a high-profile Canadian murderer.[6] Though he denied the relationship in an interview with the Toronto Sun at that time,[7][8]police have since confirmed that the pair dated.[9]
Previous acquaintances have described Magnotta as "creepy in more of a seedy side of life way",[10] with an unidentified family member claiming that "he hurt us when he was younger".[11]

On 29 May 2012, the mailing of a human foot to the Conservative Party made headlines around the world. The package, which was opened by Jenni Byrne, director of political operations for the party, was stained with blood and had a foul smell. Later that day Ottawa Police discovered a hand in a package at a Canada Post processing facility; the package was later revealed to have been addressed to the Liberal Party. Meanwhile, in the Snowdon area of Montreal, a torso was discovered by a janitor in a garbage pile. On 30 May 2012, it was confirmed that the body parts were belonging to the same individual, and the suspect was quickly identified as Magnotta, who had by then vanished. A Canada-wide warrant, later upgraded to an international warrant, has been issued by the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal for his arrest, launching a nationwide manhunt. The police have not yet been able to identify the victim and have not recovered all parts of his body.[7] According to La Presse and CTV, a note was found with the package sent to the Conservative Party headquarters, stating that other body parts were sent by mail and that he would kill again. The police are working with Canada Post to find the missing limbs.[12]
On 31 May 2012, Montreal police issued an international warrant, asking for Interpol help; according to police spokesman Ian Lafrenière, it is probable Magnotta has left Canada.[13] According to The Globe and Mail, the suspect may be headed to France.[14]

Even before the name of the prime suspect was revealed Wednesday, forensic experts across the country were working on the psychological profile of the man who sent a severed foot to the Conservatives, a hand to the Liberals, and put the torso of the victim out with the garbage.
They all agreed: this is not your typical dismemberment – this man wanted attention.
"I have worked on dismemberment cases before, where parts are found in different locations," said Kathy Reichs, a forensic anthropologist and the author of several bestselling books. "But as far as mailing them to government officials, I haven’t worked on anything like this."
Reichs, who is also a consultant for the Laboratoire de Sciences Judiciaires et de Médecine Légale in Québec, said the motive for dismembering a corpse is usually to hide the body, to make it easier to package and transport, and to make it harder to identify.
During the biker wars of the 1990s in Quebec, for instance, Reichs worked on a number of bodies found without heads or hands. She would help identify the victim, and what tools were used to dismember him, based on the marks left on the bones.
In this case, however, the perpetrator, who police suspect is 29-year-old Luka Rocco Magnotta, a male model and porn actor, clearly wanted attention, Reichs said.
The motive for either the killing or the dismemberment remains unclear, however.
In other cultures where dismemberment is less unusual – South and Central America, and Russia notably – the motive might be to send a message, or intimidate, says Stephen Hart, a forensic psychologist at Simon Fraser University. Seven years ago, in Vancouver, the head of a Hells Angel at war with Russian mobsters – with his genitals in his mouth – was sent to his wife.
The message was clear.
Hart has also encountered the occasional serial killer who keeps a souvenir. But they don’t typically send parts to politicians.
"But if you dismember and send body parts, it’s probably more ritualized. What I don’t know is why someone who is a serial or mentally-ill offender would want to send a body part to the Conservative party in particular," Hart said.
If it’s not organized crime, it’s a disorganized individual, Hart said – someone with a serious psychological disturbance, "whose motivation to commit the murder and to tell everyone about it overwhelms their desire to avoid detection." It could be someone with serious delusions, or someone with a personality disorder.
But whether it’s organized or disorganized crime, dismemberment typically has to be practised first on animals, Hart said.
Mobsters, for instance, may work first on a farm or as a butcher, to gain the skills necessary. Others may practise on domestic animals.
"It’s not only gory but difficult to dismember bodies," Hart said. "It’s a very unusual kind of offence. We may be looking at an escalation from animals to people."
Of the many unverified stories circulating about Magnotta on the Internet, one tags him as the author of a video on YouTube in which two kittens are suffocated in a plastic bag.
Gail Anderson, a forensic entomologist also at Simon Fraser University, said police in Vancouver are extremely concerned about someone who has been mutilating cats – seven of them just last week – and leaving their body parts under missing cat posters.
"When someone has done something to animals, it’s very indicative of something much more serious," she said.
As for the body parts found in Montreal and Ottawa, Anderson was interested in knowing the size of the maggots found on the torso in the suitcase – they could tell us when, if not why, the victim was killed.

When I was a young child, I used to spend much of my time alone, either in the woods or in the local cemetery, where there was the grave of a 19 year old boy who died in the early half of last century. I felt close to that boy, and would pick flowers in the woods and take them to his grave.
In 2003, I discovered a mummified corpse of a young man in a vault, in a church where I was doing restoration work for a friend. I fell in love with him, and it broke my heart to seal him in there. I wanted to take him home and look after him.
I day dream about having him here with me. Silly ordinary things like watching TV together, listening to music, taking him out for picnics, watching a DVD late at night before taking him up to bed with me. All very ordinary things, apart from the fact that I want to do them with a desiccated or mummified corpse.
I don’t have a problem attracting living men. I’m just naturally attracted to the dead.
Some people never realize until its too late that excepting their feelings and not acting anymore is true freedom.
It’s not cool to the world being a necrophiliac. It’s bloody lonely. But I dont really care, I have never cared what people thought of me, most people are judgemental idiots. Abstract
This paper is about questioning social taboos and tradition in light of philosophical concepts. Why are certain acts regarded as morally incorrect, and would they still be incorrect were it not for the taboos that surround them? I take one of the more extreme cases of a social taboo (necrophilia) and ask my readers to momentarily remove from their minds their emotional and legal inclinations on the subject, and to simply consider the topic at face value with regards to concepts such as moral status and personhood.

I concede that this essay is a philosophical proposal and while works of this nature may seem out of place in a biomedical publication, I am submitting it for two reasons. Originally, the paper was sent in at the publisher’s request. Professor Anil Aggrawal learned about my project, showed an interest, and contacted me with a request that I send the paper to him, as he may be interested in publishing it in this journal. While the publication and exhibition of my work is undeniably important to me, that is not the sole purpose of this submission. I seek to offer an objective viewpoint toward the ethics of necrophilia and to provide a possible understanding of why certain people may feel no qualms about the act. On some levels, I am playing devil’s advocate and while this paper does, in essence, fall primarily into the realm of philosophy, I argue that all subjects-especially those within the sciences, namely biomedicine-require at least some consideration of ethics.
Before diving into the piths of this essay, I find it necessary to point out-as it can be easily misunderstood-that this essay simply employs the topic of necrophilia as a forum for theoretical discussion. It is an example of an area of – what I argue to be – moral indifference, and, most importantly, an exhibit of how social taboos can be found to be without foundation in light of a logical analysis of ethics (if said taboos are based merely on unfounded traditions).
I would like to state here and now that I am not a necrophiliac. I have no interest in the practice, nor do I encourage it as it is not legally, socially, or hygienically supported. However, I argue that the practice is not, in itself, morally wrong.
The lexicography of ethics presents some complications because, to the best of my knowledge, there is no single word in the English language that concisely expresses my intended definition of "moral indifference." In essence, I argue for a spectrum of morality in relation to "morally encouraged," "morally discouraged," and "morally indifferent" acts. "Morally encouraged" actions would be things that one ought to pursue for the improved virtue of the individual and perhaps even the betterment of the populace as a whole. On the opposite side of the spectrum, "morally discouraged" actions are pursuits that one ought to avoid as they degrade the virtues of individuals and may even erode the moral health of society. Within this spectrum, "morally indifferent" actions fall somewhere within the vast gray area between the two poles and pertain to acts that neither fulfill society nor degrade it on an ethical level. That is to say, while these actions-which are performed at the individual’s discretion and in accordance with that individual’s particular tastes-do not directly perpetuate moral advancement within that individual or within the populace as a whole, said actions can not be construed as an ethical impediment.

Due to the preexisting social taboo surrounding the subject, I am inclined to place stress on the argument that necrophilia is not morally wrong instead of equally stressing that it is neither right nor wrong.
My thought experiment is set within a closed, theoretical system. With arguments about the application of personal identity and moral status as the only variables. I argue that necrophilia does no moral wrong. However, the realm of reality presents additional variables of social opinion, human attachment, legality, and hygiene, which impede the application of the equation. In short, I argue that necrophilia is a practice that does no moral wrong, but I concede that the practice it is not feasible in reality because it violates preexisting standards.
I would also like to specify that rights, for the purpose of this essay, refer specifically to moral rights. The distinction is held between those and legal rights as this is an ethical debate and legality is virtually irrelevant, as laws do not necessarily dictate morality. Once the legislation behind necrophilia is stripped away, the subject is pushed into the ethical realm. In drawing this lengthy disclaimer to a close, I beseech the readers of this essay to acknowledge and consider my arguments on a purely moral, hypothetical level.
Introduction
In this paper, I will argue that necrophilia is not morally impermissible (for clarifications on what is intended by this phrase, please see the disclaimer) on the grounds that corpses are no longer persons with identity; as such, corpses are not persons with moral status and rights. In addition, I will briefly draw attention to and question the time-honored notion of respect for the dead. It is my intention to persuade my readers to question their previous views on the ethics of necrophilia and, in turn, to propagate a questioning attitude toward social taboos in general. Necrophilia is defined by Merriam-Webster (11th edition) as "the obsession with and…erotic interest in or stimulation by corpses." For the sake of this paper, the term will be used to refer to the practice of having sex with the deceased as the ethics of the mere unconsummated interest need not be drawn into question.

Seventeenth-century philosopher John Locke argues for the necessary distinction between the body in his work, An Essay Concerning Human Understanding (1690), and a similar notion is adopted in the writings of eighteenth-century philosopher Thomas Reid. According to this theory, the body is simply a receptacle for the person,1 comparable to an airplane and its pilot, respectively. Naturally, the person is the more valued aspect as it determines one’s identity, and the body is merely the flesh which contains it. The nature of the "person" is often questioned. In his work, "Of Identity," (1785) Reidargues that the person is an immaterial, indivisible consciousness, or soul;2 Locke argues the person is defined by conscious memory.1 Locke’s account of what happens to the person at death, although different in its explanation of what makes the person, somewhat resembles Reid’s account. Those who accept Reid’s view, or one similar, would be more inclined to argue that the person evacuates the physical body upon biological death. This is comparable to the pilot of the plane ejecting himself from the cockpit and landing safely on the ground as his faithful-or perhaps not-vessel crashes and burns. Eighteenth-century philosopher David Hume and modern advocate Derek Parfit suggest that one’s identity is composed of one’s perceptions or psychology. Now, those who accept Hume’s discourse inA Treatise of Human Nature (1740)3-or Parfit’s in Divided Minds and The Nature of Persons (1984)4-would be inclined to say that the person dies when the body succumbs to biological death, which is comparable to the pilot dying within the plane as it careens into an unforgiving cliff-face. Either way, the corpse contains no properties of the person after biological death. As Reid would say, the immaterial consciousness has left the physical body,2 and Locke would claim that the self as conscious memory persists, but not in its former body.1 As Hume and Parfit would say, the mind-and thus the being’s psychology and perceptions-are gone.3,4That is to say that the body lying in the casket is merely a shell of the person who once occupied it. Whether the person survives after the body’s biological death is completely dependent on one’s view of personal identity, but regardless, the corpse remains vacant (until occupied by a prospective suitor).

A related point I would like to make is that the corpse, as it cannot be associated with the person it once was – or any person for that matter-has no moral status. Moral status is defined as the condition that bestows upon people their basic human rights. It is the quality that makes it immoral for one to treat the being in question with anything less than a certain degree of respect. What gives a being its moral status is commonly debated, but I argue that a being must fulfill a certain set of criteria to be considered a moral agent.
Mary Anne Warren, a professor of philosophy at San Francisco State University, argues her ideas for the criteria of moral status in her work, Ethics in Practice(1992). She suggests that the primary characteristics that would determine personhood are sentience, emotionality, reason, the capacity to communicate, self-awareness, and moral agency. [Please see table 1]
Sentience – The capacity to have conscious experiences, usually including the capacity to experience pain and pleasure
Emotionality – The capacity to feel happy, angry, sad, loving, etc.
Reason – The capacity to solve new and relatively complex problems.
Capacity to communicate –
Self-awareness – Having a concept of oneself as an individual and/or as a member of a social group.
Moral agency – The capacity to regulate one’s own actions through moral principles or ideals.

Warren comments that while "[a]n entity need not have all of these attributes to be a person," the potential for a being to have moral status decreases if it possesses none of these traits.5 Thus, it would be difficult to reasonably attribute moral status to a being with none of these traits, and this point is of central importance to the question of the ethics of necrophilia. Note that corpses possess none of these traits, and only beings that possess these traits in some combination can be attributed moral status. So, corpses have no moral status. If a corpse were a person with moral status, then it could be harmed. However, a corpse cannot be a person with moral status, as it fits none of the criteria for said status. Therefore, one can do no wrong to a corpse.
Some may argue that because a corpse was once a human being, it is entitled to the same treatment to which all human beings are entitled. I argue, however, that being genetically human is not enough to warrant moral status. If this were the case, one could attribute personhood ("personhood" being the criteria for considering one a person and thus an agent entitled to rights, respect, and moral status) to cancer cells and strands of hair. It seems that this quality comes at a much more complex price. Does a corpse possess the residual moral status or any transferable rights of the person who once inhabited it? This is a question similar to and depending on a notion of personal identity. Is there residual personal identity? If not, then there are no grounds for claiming residual moral status, since the moral status at the bare minimum requires some form of personal identity.

Briefly put, residual personhood does not exist. The reason behind this is that corpses cannot have moral status as moral status is dependent on a certain set of criteria. Regardless of whether one wishes to use Warren’s set of criteria to determine personhood or an entirely different standard, one can reasonably argue that awarding moral status to something simply because it is genetically human is ungrounded, as this sort of proposition could attribute moral status to substances that simply do not deserve said status. If there is no moral status, there is no person to wrong.
The issue of consent
Some bring up the notion of consent when arguing against necrophilia. They claim that the corpse (or the person) would not have agreed to sex and therefore, any sort of necrophilic activity is invasive and morally impermissible. Yet, as it was stated in the segment on personal identity, the body and the person are no longer one and the same once the body dies. Therefore, one cannot consider either part to be connected with the other. Legality aside (as this is a moral debate, it only seems fair to push law into the sidelines for now), it becomes inconsequential whether the person offered consent to prospective necrophiliacs before said person passed on, as the body that is present now cannot be viewed on the same level as the person who once inhabited it. Also, as the person can no longer be connected with the body, what happens to the latter cannot be seen as a sign of disrespect; disrespect assumes a person is the target of that disrespect, but since the cadaver is not a person, there is no one toward whom to direct this disrespect. In addition, as it has been previously determined, the corpse is not a person, let alone an agent with rights or privileges. Not only is the corpse incapable of denying moral and legal consent, it is not entitled to deny said consent.
Because legality is pushed aside and because the body is no longer affiliated with the once-living person, the requests or possible wishes of the deceased can be discarded. One can assume this because-as it was previously stated-the author of said document cannot be likened to the corpse as there no longer exists a tie between the person and the body. In addition, as it was previously argued, residual moral status and personal identity do not exist. When dealing with a corpse, one is not dealing with a person, an organism that deserves moral consideration, or a being that can deny consent. One is simply dealing with a body that is, crudely put, nothing more than a mass of decomposing cellular residue, and masses of decomposing cellular residue are fair game to paraphiles.
Comparison between necrophilia and embalming
Furthermore, the corpse is often subject to unpleasant invasion as standard procedure. In the embalming process, described in Richard T. Hatch’s book, How to Embalm Your Mother-In-Law (1993), the body is completely stripped of all clothing and washed twice. In cases of rigor mortis, the embalmer is required to massage the corpse’s limbs and extremities to loosen up the body, making it more possible and easier to work with overall.6 Orifices are then swabbed with cavity fluid and packed to avoid leakage. After any necessary dental work, the mouth is stitched shut by inserting hooked wires into the gum tissue and tightening them. The face and body are shaved, and the eyeballs are washed and eye cups are inserted, which serve to provide the proper shape when the eyelid is closed. As much blood as possible is removed from the veins by a pump and replaced with embalming fluid, which is applied through six major injection points. A tube is then inserted into the abdomen to remove any residual fluid from organ decomposition. Finally, embalming preservatives are pumped through the body. Compare this process to conventional sexual activity in which fluid exchange is relatively minimal and, presumably, does not entail total exsanguination via pumps, eye-tampering, or mouth-stitching. The average necrophile does not have the means or the motive for that sort of endeavor.

Jessica Mitford mentions an even more disturbing aspect of the embalming process in her book, The American Way of Death (1963): "no law requires embalming, no religious doctrine commends it, nor is it dictated by considerations of health, sanitation, or even of personal daintiness."7 That is to say that this fate, although religiously pursued and widely exercised upon corpses, is virtually unnecessary.
I feel it is important-or at least interesting-to remark on the comparison between the two practices. Granted, if the corpse is not a person (as I argue), embalming does no wrong to the corpse, either. The comparison is drawn between necrophilia and embalming to show that invasive procedures befall corpses on a regular basis. Furthermore, while embalming is socially acceptable and necrophilia is not, the former could easily be perceived as more invasive.

The notion of respect for the dead
The final argument I will explore that opposes necrophilia is that which concerns the notion of respect for the dead. It is a notion that rests on a time-honored tradition and nothing more, but one that generally arises alongside the topic of necrophilia. This principle is often used as its own argument against necrophilia, yet, in light of the previous arguments, I have to ask why humankind must maintain this tradition. Given the preceding arguments, it would seem as though this tradition is nothing more than an ungrounded, misunderstood notion that carries no moral obligation. As was previously mentioned, one can conclude that the corpse is not a person and has no moral status. It does not have the capacity to deny consent and it is nothing more than an object. Also, there is no tie between the person and the mass of decomposing cellular residue in question. Since arguments that support the status of corpses fail, what moral obligation do we have to respect corpses? If the notion of respect for the dead is-as I suspect-what ultimately makes necrophilia taboo, the practice could be considered morally impermissible no longer once said notion is found unjustifiable. From my perspective, the universal nature of this tradition does not adequately justify the condemnation of necrophilia.
Finally, even if my debate against the sanctity of this tradition does not convince my readers, it is still arguable that necrophilia doesn’t disrespect the dead. one can still maintain this notion-however arbitrary and societally ingrained it may seem-because when one respects the dead, one is arguably respecting the memory of the person (i.e., character traits, accomplishments, etc.), not necessarily the corpse itself. Thus, necrophilia does not degrade the memory of said person’s character.

‘These are the actions of a sadistic human being’: Hunt for twisted thug who fed kitten to python in sick video

A hunt has been launched for a sadistic pet owner who filmed himself feeding a kitten to a python.
The vile video, entitled Python Christmas, shows a man in his 20s carrying the kitten called Jasmine into a bedroom in a Santa hat and then placed on a bed.
Lurking half-hidden under a pillow lay a yellow Burmese python, which can grow up to 19ft long and is one of the largest snakes in the world.

Evil: The callous thug carries the kitten in a Santa hat to the bed where he appears to play with it
The bait: The kitten is distracted and moments later the python pounces and wraps its coils around its prey
Jasmine is seen slowly walking across the bed until the thug distracts her and she fatally turns her back on the danger.
The snake pounces, wrapping the kitten in its coils as it squeezes the life out of the playful animal.
Once the kitten’s tail stops moving the snake swallows her whole — head first. Its cries of agony are drowned out by the Christmas song Little Drummer Boy playing in the background of the video.
At the end of the seven-minute footage there is a chillingly threat of more ‘feeding videos’. It was posted on a site called Flix from an account registered in Islington, north London.

If caught, the sicko faces six months’ jail and a £20,000 fine for causing unnecessary suffering under the Animal Welfare Act 2006.
Among the few clues to his identity are that he is a fan of the Disney film Aladdin. Images and songs from the movie have been posted on his YouTube site.
An RSPCA spokeswoman said: ‘There is no excuse for feeding a live cat to a python.’
Vet Pete Wedderburn told the Sun: ‘The kitten is probably no older than four months. It has no hiding place and can’t get away. These are the actions of a sadistic human being.’

Very hard to find, the 1 Lunatic 1 Ice Pick Video took the internet by the storm as the most horrific shock video to have been released to date. There are speculations that One Lunatic One Ice Pick may be an actual snuff film – produced by some crazy psycho who was paid to murder a person and film it on camera. Though as with everything that starts going viral on the internet, the chances of the reality being blown out of proportions are quite substantial. As a result, it’s quite possible that 1 Lunatic 1 Ice Pick is not a snuff film at all, but rather a home made recording of a psychopath who filmed his sick deed on camera the same way thousands of other murderers did, utilizing whatever technology allowed at the time.
Some people say that the 1 Lunatic 1 Ice Pick Video was produced in San Francisco, USA, others say it’s work of some crazy, 20 year old Russian who got paid 6 figures for it. To give his clients their moneys worth, the 1 Lunatic 1 Ice Pick Video contains murder, beheading, dismemberment, cannibalism and necrophilia (it doesn’t appear as though castration took place in this video, though).
The 1 Lunatic 1 Ice Pick Video is filmed in a dimply lit room. A naked male is seen tied to a frame of bed while his captor stabs him in the abdomen with an ice pick. The victim is them seen with his throat slashed as his captor proceeds to slowly slice various parts of his body with a knife.
Later in the video, the victim is entirely decapitated and the captor uses his kitchen knife to cut into the muscles and dismember one limb after another. The murderer plays with severed limbs and even rubs his crotch area with them. It must have turned him on because the next thing he does is flip the dismembered, decapitated corpse on its front and fuck it in the ass from behind.
Using a knife and fork, the murderer then slices a piece of fatty flesh from victim’s ass and presumably eats it before bringing a hungry dog in to also feast on freshly killed man. The black and white pooch could not resist the smell of raw flesh and bit right into the stump.
Once pooch was done, the murderer stuck a bottle neck up dismembered man’s anus and repeatedly assfucked him with it. Putting the severed hand into use once more, the murderer laid on his bed pantless and masturbated with it.
1 Lunatic 1 Ice Pick is without a doubt the sickest thing you will have ever seen in your entire life. It is a sad reminder that things far worse than any of us would ever imagine really take place in our neighborhoods. It is a sickening reflection of who we, as a human race have become. Turning our heads and pretending the video doesn’t exist would only make the perpetrator feel more secure and open to further exploitation.
I believe it is important, for the sake of us all that, as was the case with 3 Guys 1 Hammerand similar videos, the 1 Lunatic 1 Ice Pick video is seen and understood for what it is, so appropriate steps can be taken to bring those responsible to justice and prevent any further such atrocity from happening. You never know who could be the next person on that bed. If the message about the 1 Lunatic 1 Ice Pick video is not spread far and wide, there could be many more still to come and that’s a very frightening thought. Best Gore is dedicated to ensuring the general public is aware of the reality of the world out there so everyone can make educated decisions that affect their wellbeing and the wellbeing of their families.

It’s difficult to recognize the person from it clearly, but still – reach of the internet is wide and can’t be underestimated. Perhaps someone who sees this video on Best Gore recognize that guy? Thorough investigation by the Best Gore community lead to an assumption that the 1 Lunatic 1 Ice Pick perpetrator could be a renowned cat killer and internet attention whore Luka Magnotta. He could also be the same person who mailed severed human foot to Tory HQ in Ottawa. He’s currently wanted by the Canadian police.

Human Foot Mailed to Tory HQ in Ottawa – Luka Magnotta Officially a Suspect

Luka Rocco Magnotta, born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada as Eric Clinton Newman – a disturbed young man believed by the internet community to be the kitten killer responsible for several upsetting animal abuse videos, and also a man pinned down by the Best Gore community as the perpetrator behind the 1 Lunatic 1 Ice Pick video is now officially a wanted man. Despite all the speculation that he could be in the USA or Russia, he’s still seemingly right here in his homeland of Canada, a monster living among us without most even realizing.
Yesterday, on May 29, 2012 a disturbing news shook Canada. The headquarters of the Conservative Party of Canada (leading party in Canada, commonly referred to as Tory) which is located at 130 Albert Street in Ottawa (Toronto is not Canada’s capital city, Ottawa is) received a suspicious package sent to their address by the means of regular mail (via Canada Post). The package was opened by Jenni Byrne, campaign manager of Canada’s Prime Minister Stephen Harper.
Rotten stench (hey Don) and blood gave fast hints of the gruesome content within. The authorities, including the police, the hazardous materials unit and the coroner were called in and found a severed human foot inside. The foot already started to decompose and raised a lot of stink at Tory HQ.
At the same time, news from Montreal in Canada’s predominantly French speaking province of Quebec came that a human torso was discovered by a janitor in a suitcase on a Snowdon street. Today, one day after the delivery of the severed human foot to Tory HQ in Ottawa and the discovery of the human torso in Montreal, the police named their prime suspect – the very Luka Magnotta.
The parcel with the human foot was traced and the police learned that it was sent from Montreal. The police also learned that there was one more parcel the sender dispatched to a different mailing address. That parcel was quickly located and seized before being delivered. Its content was X-Rayed and lo and behold – inside it was a severed human hand. The police have not released the address to which this parcel was sent. Makes you wonder if perhaps Luka Magnotta was pissed off at me for pinning him down and wanted to send me a present?
Case in point – Luka Magnotta is in Canada and is a wanted man – this time officially. Montreal was his last known location but he could have moved anywhere. But now with his name out there, he has the entire country looking for him. His face is all over the internet and every single police officer has more than a strong motivation to pin that sucker down, especially since he got his hands dirty with the leading political force in the country.
The obvious question to ask is – were the severed foot, severed hand and mutilated human torso those of the man murdered in the making of the 1 Lunatic 1 Ice Pick video?
Since this is all happening in Canada, no gory pictures are being released. But since it involves our beloved Luka Magnotta, I thought ya’ll would love to hear it. Especially since before his name was officially released, I speculated on possible connection between the severed foot and Luka Magnotta myself. But I have to thank Best Gore member Pigeonqc from Quebec to get it all started. WTF? Luka Magnotta is in Canada. He could be snooping on me from behind the corner.
Take a good look. Do you know this man? He’s wanted by Canadian authorities and could be potentially dangerous. If you see him, call 911 immediately:

The Montreal Gazette posted this video from the apartment building where Luka Rocco Magnotta lived. It shows images from the apartment itself after it was raided by the police and contains interviews with some of the neighbors. In the apartment, the police found bed sheets soaked with blood and pooled blood in the fridge. The reek of rotten flesh inside the apartment was repulsive. Could this be the apartment where alleged killer Luka Magnotta would have murdered, beheaded, dismembered and cannibalized an Asian fellow before subjecting his corpse to necrophilia as seen in the 1 Lunatic 1 Ice Pick video (thanks to Abomination for the tip)?

Hey you guys – as you know shit hit the fan. It’s a good thing because if all allegation regarding Luka Magnotta made on Best Gore are true, then this man must be taken off the streets as soon as possible. For as long as he’s out there, none of us here in Canada is safe. Luckily, Luka is being hunted and it’s only a question of time before he’s caught. Let’s hope there will be no more innocent victims by the time they get him.
Because Best Gore played a very important role in nailing the identity of the perpetrator, the website is being used as a point of reference by many people. This results in complete bombardment of the site with traffic. During the course of today and until Luka Magnotta is capture or killed, you may experience slow response times or even downtimes. Rest assured that I’m doing all that’s in my power to keep the site on line.
Not Credible
It has been reported by various mainstream media that as soon as the name of the perpetrator was pinned by the community on Best Gore, people reported it to the police. The Toronto police department, however, did not find the reports credible, and dismissed them suggesting that the video was most certainly a product of some special effects team and no further actions were taken.
4 days later, the previously dismissed name became the most wanted name in Canada. The way I see it – had the police responded to the reports instead of dismissing them, they may have caught Luka Magnotta redhanded. Utilizing the tools available to the police, they could have learned that he was renting an apartment in Montreal and paid him a visit 3 days prior to finding the body in a suitcase and a foot in a parcel. Had they done that, they would have likely disturbed him with a packing tape in his hand.
As such, this potentially dangerous man would have been arrested and would no longer be a threat to public. Here’s hoping that next time Best Gore investigators pin a potential perpetrator down, the police takes more appropriate action. I’m pretty sure they’re working around the clock and are breathing down Luka’s neck, so hopefully he’s caught before he could add to his victim count.
Why It Was Important to Share This Video
I think we can all agree that 1 Lunatic 1 Ice Pick is a proof that it’s important for a website like Best Gore to publish videos of such nature, regardless of how upsetting they may seem to general public. It’s because this video was posted that the community was able to identify the perpetrator long before the body parts were mailed off and had action been taken when first reports were made, the perpetrator would likely have been caught. The fact that action was not taken takes nothing away from great service postage of this video meant for the safety of the public.
